If you choose Menu->Remote Login at the login panel, eligible hosts will
alternately appear in and disappear from the list as you click Refresh.

For instance, the display will first show only host 1. Refresh will add host
2, and the next refresh causes host 1 to disappear. This pattern continues.

The DM on both host 1 and 2 is GDM.

The above behavior occurs if KDM has XDMCP disabled. If you enable it, so that
the KDM host itself appears in the list, the behavior changes slightly.

The KDM host is never removed from the list. And host 1 and host 2 will mostly
stick around as well; but every once in awhile (usually on an auto-refresh),
all hosts except for the KDM host will disappear from the list in the same
refresh.
